Live in Awe

Tailor made Scottish adventures

About Us

Who are we
Live in awe is a hiking and wild camping ministry under YWAM Seamill. We started in 2021 with a heart for all people to have the opportunity to enjoy creation and encounter a God who loves to meet with us.

What we do
Live In Awe calls you to put down your phone, drop a few of the luxuries, leave the everyday and meet God. Whether in the mountains, a tent, round a campfire or in our beautiful centre.
We take groups into the stunning Scottish highlands and Islands where we facilitate your 2-3 day wild camping adventure with God.
We cater to far more than just the wild campers though. If you feel uneasy camping, Then your group will stay at our centre and start your daily adventures hearing about the Celtic saints, how God loves to meet us and more. Then we hit the road and get our adventure underway. Each trip is different, both in location and in theme. So lets design your adventure together and say yes to meeting the one who loves us.

Why Exodus 24:18
This verse may seem simple but it’s an incredible climax to an incredible story. Moses ate with and saw God. God could have released his instructions in a day and quickly, but instead he took Moses out of the chaos, away from his responsibilities and met with him. Now in this story the mountain, cloud, wilderness or any other physical creation isn’t necessarily the highlight. The highlight is Gods unceasing desire to meet with us. So Just as Moses was called out of the chaos, the responsibilities and some of the luxury’s. We call you to come away and meet with him.

Adventure Choices

Each trip is different, our heart is to make nature accessible for the wild camper and the slow Sunday walker. Choose your category below.

Wild

2 – 3 nights of backpacking and wild camping in places no regular campers would dare to go.

Comfy

2 – 4 days based out of a camping ground with facilities. From there we take day trips to the local hills.

Cosy

Sleep, eat and live at our beautiful centre for 2 – 5 nights, from here we will take beautiful day excursions.

Other

Don’t think you fit into the first three categories? Don’t let that stop you! Lets chat and see what we can create.

Hiking Retreats

Live in awe also runs two hiking retreats each year.

Over the course of a week you will arrive at our beautiful centre on Sunday, share a meal together and enjoy a briefing followed by five days of guided hikes, wild camping  and reflections.

The cost of a weeks retreat is £300, which includes equipment, all your food, transport, input and accommodation. Our aim is that after a week with us you leave refreshed and deeper with God.

2024 dates are:

FAQ’s

Our prices will vary depending on a few things such as Length of trip, type of trip, group restrictions and location. As a Charity, we make no profit from your group so our prices will be as low as possible. However if you wish to donate more towards the ministry and future groups who cannot afford these trips that would be great.

Prices includes all your food, travel, guides and equipment. A breakdown of expenses will be sent to you upon the agreed trip details. (Once booked we do require a 20% deposit)

If you are comfortable walking up hills then you are fit enough. For our “wild” trips you will put your body through more than a normal walk, as you are carrying your life on your shoulders. But rest assured we create a tailored hiking experience to fit your group.

You will need to bring some equipment and of course the correct outdoor apparel (remember this is Scotland. Rain is very possible…)

– Kit for Wild & Comfy Expeditions
Your Kit should be no more than 15kg once all together for wild camping groups. You will not want to carry any more than that, so keep items to a minimum and make sure they are vital. You bring it, you carry it.

If you don’t have everything on the “To bring” list see if it is possible to borrow from friends for a few nights. If you still see items you cannot get, please don’t let that stop you! Message us and we will see if we have any spare here.

“Live in Awe” is for anyone. Our main goals are to enjoy creation, each other and meet with God. We Taylor each trip to the type of group that comes, Christian or not, fit or unfit, local or international, outdoorsy or weary of the outdoors. If you are willing to give it a go, you are welcome.

We split our main trips into 3 distinct categories. Wild, Comfy and Cosy.(See “about Live in Awe” for more info) So you can decide what level of physical comfort you desire.

Please let us know if you are interested or have further questions and from there we can tailor the trip to you.

The answer to this includes many variables, such as time of year, group dynamics and budget. We often go to places such as Arran, Galloway, the Trossachs and even Ayrshire.

Sadly we only accommodate groups and are unable to take individuals.

Currently our main outdoor facilitator has both his hill and moorland leader and expeditions certifications. This is all under the UK banner of Mountain training UK.
