Every YWAM Discipleship Training School (DTS) has its own 'DNA'. God has a specific plan and purpose for each school, just as He does for each of the individuals that come. God is faithful before each DTS to speak to the leadership about the school. Usually it is an outline, expressed in scriptures and a theme. Every individual on the DTS brings their unique colours and, as we walk through six months together, we will have the awesome privilege of watching God "color everything in".
January 2009 DTS Vision
What could be more powerful than Christians coming together for the purpose of finding God and growing in Him? We are inviting individuals and families from ages 18-65 to join us from 24 January to 2 July 2009. (Although the school ends July 2, please feel free to stay until the weekend!)
We will have six months to grow in humility, vision & passion
together. We believe God is saying that it is time for the body
of Christ to be represented in its diversity, both in age and
culture, to seek God and be trained together to take what He
has built into us; character, vision and all, into Scotland
and the Nations. We come together with God to be made holy,
godly, caring and passionate. In this school we will create
space that will be conducive not only to seeing together but
moving forward together with all the strengths we offer.
The school will be a six month program consisting of three months
lecture phase, followed by a two month outreach phase and debrief.
Just as iron sharpens iron, we believe that the generations
have something to offer each other. Our desire is that each
student would come prepared to impart what they know in Jesus
to each other, to learn more about God and more about themselves
and reach the lost in the frontiers and urban areas.
We believe this school in particular carries something special
from the heart of God. The purpose of this DTS is: to prepare,
equip and release the Body of Christ into its calling as disciplers
and messengers of the Gospel of Jesus. To reconcile those who
are different so that we may all go forward in healing and anointing
from God and through one another. To see God's Spirit move in
a more powerful way than if we were left to our individual subcultures.
We come together:
TO EQUIP the Christian messenger to grow in relationship with God, providing a solid Biblical foundation and encouraging the development of Christ-like character through the personal application of truth.
TO CHALLENGE the Christian messenger to become involved in world evangelism with YWAM or other ministries, to awaken a burden for reaching the unreached, to develop a vision for influencing all areas of society, and to commit to strengthening the global Body of Christ.
TO IMPART to the Christian messenger an understanding of Youth With A Mission International, its foundational values, calling and opportunities for service.
TO PREPARE Christians for service in the church and
community both locally and internationally.
